README.txt MD5 Checksums are used to establish the code integrity of software you download. Using the md5sums grants you more security. The file "MD5SUMS" contains a list of files and their MD5 Checksums. Download your chosen file and also the file "MD5SUMS". Verify whether your chosen downloaded file was successful by determining the MD5 Checksum for your downloaded file. For Linux To determine the MD5 Checksum for your downloaded file (on Linux) execute: md5sum your-downloaded-file Compare your downloaded file's MD5 Checksum with the MD5 Checksum listed in file "MD5SUMS". If both are the same then the download was successful. For MS Windows XP MS Windows XP does not have a utility to determine the MD5 Checksum for a file. But you can readily download a utility to use on MS Windows XP.
