ITIS Physical Model - References Summary
The ITIS database will be modified to reflect extensive changes to the requirements for references’ data. The Publications and Reference_Links tables will be removed and replaced by a revised structure that is intended to facilitate bibliographic output in various formats.
Implementation of these changes impact the entire Integrated Taxonomic Information System. The date for completion of these changes has not been identified.
Upon removal of the Publications table, the following data elements will be rendered obsolete:
- publication_id_prefix
- publication_id
- reference_author
- title
- publication_name
- listed_pub_date
- actual_pub_date
- publisher
- pub_place
- pages
- pub_comment
The definitions for the following data elements will be modified:
- isbn
- issn
Upon removal of the Reference_Links table, the following data element will be rendered obsolete:
- initial_itis_desc_ind
The definitions for the following data elements will be modified:
- documentation_id_prefix
- documentation_id
- original_desc_ind
