    Östergren notes that Enypniastes eximia does not belong in Elpidiidae, and deserves its own special family, but does not effectively publish the name Enypniastidae in Zur Phylogenie und Systematik der Seewalzen (1907) even though Miller and Pawson (1990) note 'Ostergren (1907) erected the family Enypniastidae for Enypniastes eximia Théel'
