Comment: LSID urn:lsid:marinespecies.org:taxname:124642 associated with the scientific name Ocnus grubei (von Marenzeller, 1874) acquired on 15 October, 2015
The original spelling grubii is very often corrected to grubei because von Marenzeller named the species in honor of Adolph Eduard Grube. However ICZN Article 33.1 confirms grubei is a subsequent spelling that is an emendation. For an emendation to be justified it needs to be demonstrably intentional within the author's work or in a subsequent corrigenda by the author or publisher (Article 33.2.1.). There is no evidence in the original publication of a demonstrably intentional emendation. However, grubei has been in use since at least 1882 (see http://biodiversitylibrary.org/page/9629645) and this spelling may be justified under Article 33.2.3.1 which states 'when an unjustified emendation is in prevailing usage and is attributed to the original author and date it is deemed to be a justified emendation.'
