  Comment: CITES: Added to Appendix III by Madagascar, added in accordance with CITES Article XVI, paragraph 1, effective December 22, 2011  
    Diospyros vera (Lour.) A. Chev., published in 1919, is a later homonym of the fossil species Diospyros vera E.W. Berry, published in 1911. It is unclear what the appropriate accepted name for the Asian species should be, so for the moment it is being linked under the genus for further consideration
