 Comments

Comment: The taxonomic status of pusilla is uncertain. Because the type specimen was collected in southern Appalachia, one or all of the subspecies noted by Groth (1993) to be of Type 2 (grinnelli and benti) are probable synonyms. The name bendirei is also a possible synonym of pussila, or it could be applied to crossbills in Groth's Type 5 or Type 7
