  Comment: The first letter of the specific epithet was originally capitalized Silvestriana  
    In 1904, Silvestri described the female of "Trigona amalthaea (Ol.) Jurine" (page 143). In 1908, Vachal published "Melipona (Trigona) Silvestriana" (page 221) as an unnecessary replacement name for "Melipona Amalthea (Ol.) Silvestri" 1904 (a literature misspelling of Melipona amalthaea) referencing Silvestri's article in Revista di Patologia Vegetale, vol. 10 (pages 121-170) and Olivier's 1789 article in Encyclopédie Méthodique: Histoire Naturelle, vol. 4 (page 78) where he described Apis amalthea (page 78, no. 102)
