  Comment: Corvus tropicus Gmelin, 1788 and Crovus tropicus Kerr, 1792 were widely used for the Hawaiian Crow but the sources for the species descriptions were referable to Dicrurus paradiseus formosus (Cabanis, 1851). Use of Corvus tropicus for the Hawaiian Crow is a misapplication of the name, and Corvus hawaiiensis Peale, 1848 (TSN 179742) should be used. See Banks (1983) for more information
