  Comment: While recent phylogenetic studies (Korall et al. 2006, 2007) support recognition of four clades within family Cyatheaceae (Sphaeropteris, Alsophila, Gymnosphaera, and Cyathea), taxonomic nomenclature does not currently fully reflect these clades. Here all species are treated within genus Cyathea. However, combinations within Cyathea have not been published for some taxa; these taxa are placed in hierarchy under genus Cyathea but retain their most recently recognized combinations for the present
