 Comments

Comment: Hypnum fastigiatum Brid. (published in 1827) is a primary junior homonym of Hypnum fastigiatum Wibel (published in 1805) and thus is permanently illegitimate
Kucera et al. (2019) treat Drepanium fastigiatum (Brid.) C.E.O. Jensen as accepted, on the basis that 'Stereodon fastigiatus Brid.' is a junior secondary homonym of Hypnum fatigiatum Wibel, and thus is blocked in genus Hypnum but not in genus Drepanium. However, Bridel published epithet fastigiatus in subgenus Stereodon of genus Hypnum (Bridel, 1827; p. 620) (publishing Stereodon as a new taxon at the rank of subgenus in the same publication; p. 550); thus, Hypnum fastigiatus Brid. is a primary homonym and permanently illegitimate
