 Comments

Comment: Boulenger (1885: 272, 435) clearly used 'beddomii' for this species apparently named after 'Richard Henry Beddome, 1830-1911, British army officer and botanist' (Reptile Database, 2017). The spelling 'beddomei' has gained usage recently, but appears to be an unjustified emendation. Under ICZN Art. 31.1.2, the stem must be treated as beddomi- (here beddomii is the genitive of beddomius, a Latinized version of the English name Beddome), which makes the original name correct as-is. Other formations could be admissible, as well, but are not applicable here due to the Boulenger's actions
