    Status: IUCN - Critically Endangered
Comments: Subgenus Allactaga (not allocated to subgenus by Shenbrot, 1984). Allactaga firouzi appears to be morphologically distinct from A. euphratica and A. hotsoni (Womochel, 1978), but its relationship with these and other species of allactagines needs further study. Shenbrot (1993) tenatively synonymized firouzi with A. elater turkmeni, but later (in litt.) examined the type specimen and considered firouzi synonymous with hotsoni, which is where Pavlinov et al. (1995) listed it. We recognize th...
Allactaga firouzi Womochel, 1978 is treated as valid by Wilson and Reeder (2005), but Shenbrot (2008) states, '[...] investigation of the type series of A. firouzi in the Field Museum (Chicago) and its comparison with the large series of A. hotsoni from Iran and Pakistan, preserved in the National Museum of Natural History (Washington) showed conspecificity of the later two forms (G. Sh.)'
