 Comments

Comment: On the authorship of the available family-group name based on Smaris Latreille, 1796, namely Smarididae, see Southcott (1961:413-414). Although some works credit it to 'Kramer, 1878', Southcott argues that no such work with such a name appears to exist, that 'this terminology originated in Oudemans (1923), and that the true author of the family Smarididae is Vitzthum (1929)'. Both attributions are found in recent literature, but such works continue to cite no source from c1878. ITIS will follow Southcott in this until an earlier source of the family is identified
