  Comment: Murray (1911) notes, "Originally described in 1907 [by himself] as a variety of E. spitsbergensis, Scourfield, I am now satisfied that the differences are too great to allow the two forms [spitsbergensis and spinuloides] to be united," and lists it as "Echiniscus spinuloides, sp.n." Under the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (1999), this appears to be an unnecessary re-naming of the same taxon (with the same epithet). The prior name appears to stand (now as a species), so the correct authorship should be from 1907, not 1911
