  Comment: Christenhusz et al. (Phytotaxa 19, 2011) established Blechnum norfolkense Christenh. since Doodia kunthiana Gaudich. could not be used as basionym in Blechnum due to homonymy. Soon thereafter Christenhusz & Schneider proposed Blechnum hawaiianum Christenh. since the species is endemic to Hawaii, not Norfolk Island. The newer name would have to be formally conserved against the other before it could be used. However, ITIS is currently recognizing Doodia, following Rothfels et al. (2012:527), so neither name applies
