    Bell (1882) treats Cuvieria sitchaensis Brandt, 1835 as a synonym of Psolus fabricii (Duben & Koren, 1846) but gives no explanation of why the earlier name is synonymus of the latter. He refers to Ludwig (1881), who likewise explicitly makes the synonymy but gives no explanation
