  Comment: Concerning North American records that apparenly are referrable to another species, Pelham (2008:428) notes of Polites subreticulata (Plötz, 1883), "Reports of this species from Texas by Freeman (1951) apparently refer to Polites carus (W. H. Edwards, 1883); see Burns (1994a). It is excluded with its synonym citrus (Mabille, 1889)"
