 Comments

Comment: Eschmeyer (personal communication December 2002, and online Catalog of Fishes, 2002) suggests that, although some authors treat the combination Pseudaesopia japonica (Bleeker, 1860) as valid, the type species of the genus Pseudaesopia Chabanaud, 1934 (Synaptura regani Gilchrist, 1906) is commonly listed as Zebrias regani (Gilchrist, 1906). Until a treatment of these taxa that covers the type species is published, ITIS is retaining Pseudaesopia as a synonym of, and Zebrias japonicus (Bleeker, 1860) as a species of Zebrias Jordan and Snyder, 1900
