 Comments

Comment: Occasionally in the older literature, taxa were described as new to sciece in two (or more?) publications, often in different years; the Genus Spirosperma and its type species, Spirosperma ferox, were both described as new taxa in Eisen (1879) and again in Eisen (1885, p. 884); several other taxa in this ITIS compilation by MJWetzel were similarly first described by Eisen (1879), and then again reported as new taxa in Eisen (1885); a comment similar to this one has been included for those taxa. The genus Spirosperma Eisen, 1879 was emended by Brinkhurst (1981)
