  Comment: Status: IUCN - Lower Risk (lc)  
    Comments: Husson (1978) designated a lectotype. Allelic data first indicated that this species falls outside the clade that contains other New World tree squirrels (Hafner et al., 1994a)  
    The author for Sciurillus pusillus (TSN 632417) was previously cited as (Desmarest, 1817); this was in error, as Desmarest clearly cited Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire as author in his 1817 treatment of the name (p. 109)
