    ITIS follows Bagley et al. 2018, Smith et al. 2013, and Unmack et al. 2014 in regarding this taxon as a valid subspecies. Spellings vary from yarrowii, yarrowi, jarovii, jarrowi according to Eschmeyer's Catalog of Fishes which lists taxon as species Pantosteus jarrovii.
