  Comment: Originally described at the rank of variety, as Hypsibius (Diphascon) pinguis brunsvicensis n.v., the name is deemed infrasubspecific and not available from that work due to ICZN (1999) Article 15.2 (as a post-1960 name using the term variety or form). It may have been made available in a later work (with the later authorship & year) if an author before 2000 used it as a full species or subspecies if that work either provided a description directly or indirectly (e.g., via bibliographic citation). ITIS has not (as of 2022) researched potential later availability for this name, so it is not clear if there is an available name that can be used here
