  Comment: Despite a 1991 note placing Tephromelataceae Hafellner in synonymy under Lecanoraceae, Myconet, 2001 (Outline of Ascomycota, vol. 7) places the type genus, Tephromela M. Choisy, in the family Bacidiaceae W. Watson. Therefore ITIS is placing Tephromelataceae Hafellner in synonymy under Bacidiaceae W. Watson
