  Comment: When Bonaparte (1850) described sylvatica he described the species in Athene, not Strix. The name Strix sylvatica that Bonaparte (1850) refers to is a manuscript name by Müller that is not available, and not Strix sylvatica Shaw, 1809 [TSN 1063445]. See Mees 1967, p. 45
