  Comment: Although Infraorder Desmonata is in use, e.g., in Schatz et al. (2011), for an oribatid clade of Nothrina (=Holosomata), Brachyplina, and Astigmatina (=Astigmata), ITIS is for now retaining a classification placing the Astigmata next to the Oribatida, rather than nested within them, in order to facilitate updates to these groups separately. They are still treated separately by most specialists as a practical matter
