  Comment: Warncke stated in 1988 that the description for Osmia melanippa Spinola, 1808 is "completely consistent" with that of Osmia signata Erichson, 1835 and as the name was no longer used in the literature [presumably since 1899 per ICZN Article 23.9], the name Osmia signata "can be retained under article 23b IRZN[sic]."
