  Comment: Unjustified emendation per Deignan (1960). Although Bonaparte's spelling Macheiramphus was "unused [for] 110 years" (Mayr & Cottrell 1979 p. 289), Deignan resurrected the name prior to the first Edition of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN) in 1961 so the nomen oblitum rule for unused names does not apply and Deignan's resurrection stands
