 Comments

Comment: Nelson (1994:84) comments on the status of Holostei, and ends up leaving its constituent orders (Amiiformes, Semionotiformes, and their fossil relatives) directly under Subclass Neopterygii, while all the other neopterygians are placed in 'Division Teleostei.' Ruggiero et al. (2015) treat Holostei as a valid class, and ITIS is following their lead
