  Comment: Bonnaterre (1788), described "Le Guare" as Scomber cordila Linnaeus (a misspelling of Scomber cordyla Linnaeus, 1758). Jordan and Evermann (1896) listed this species as Somber guara and attributed it to Bonnaterre, 1788 by mistake. Fowler (1945) subsequently listed it as Caranx guara (Bonnaterre [1788]) . Berry (1959) pointed out the mistake of Jordan and Evermann (1896) by listing it as Caranx guara (non Bonnaterre [1788] , fide Jordan and Evermann [1896])
