  Comment: The name Chaetoceros furcellatus Bailey has been used in several references. However, in the original description by Bailey (1856) the species name was published as Ch. furcillatus (furcillatum). See Chaetoceros furcillatus Bailey. At this point, the status of the species name Ch. furcellatus Yendo remains unclear as the original publication is not yet obtained
