In part synonymy. According to Kramp (1959) members of the Codonidae Haeckel, 1879 are now placed within the four families: Corynidae Johnston, 1836; Margelopsidae Uchida, 1927; Pennariidae McCrady, 1859; Tubulariidae Fleming, 1828. It is not clear at this point where the type species of the type genus resides, but if it can be placed that is where the family belongs. It may be that it is Codonium princeps Haeckel, 1879, which is currently placed in Sarsia, and if so that would make Codonidae synonym of only Corynidae (where Sarsia is currently placed) |
