  Comment: Eschmeyer (online Catalog of Fishes, 2004) does not note the use of any names as subspecies of Opisthonema oglinum (Lesueur, 1818) in the recent literature. Whitehead (1985) does note the use in 1972, but the notes there suggest it is questionable
