  Comment: Tom Munroe (pers.comm. 2004) states, 'In his 1934 work entitled Heterosomata, J.R. Norman placed Rhomboidichthys spinosus Poey, 1868 in the synonymy of Bothus ocellatus (Agassiz, 1831). That has been the only formal treatment of the name that I have come across'  
    Claro et al. (2001) note for Bothus spinosus (Poey, 1868) that its 'Presence in Cuba or species identification requires confirmation'
