 Comments

Comment: The genus Isochaeta was reviewed by Brinkhurst (1981); doubt surrounding the existence, and thus the validity of the type species, Isochaeta virulenta Pointner, 1911 (a European taxon), resulted in Brinkhurst considering this taxon to be a species dubium; Brinkhurst, in the same paper, then emended the genus Isochaetides, reasigning those taxa formerly in the genus Isochaeta to the genus Isochaetides
Brinkhurst (1981) notes that Isochaeta virulenta Pointner 1911 (the type of the genus Isochaeta) has been synonymized under Limnodrilus udekemianus, and regards it as a species dubium. Isochaeta Pointner, 1911 is a junior homonym of copepod genus Isochaeta Giesbrecht, 1889, despite the fact that the copepod name was suppressed under the plenary power for the purposes of the Principle of Priority but not for those of the Principle of Homonymy (ICZN Opinion 1613, September 1990)
