  Comment: Although senior to zeae (Moulton, 1911), longipennis (Crawford, 1910) was considered a secondary homonym of Scirtothrips longipennis (Bagnall, 1909), and replaced before 1961, and the substitute name (zeae) remains in use, so under ICZN Article 59.3, longipennis is permanently invalid. See O'Neill (1955) for a discussion of the history of these names
