  Comment: Although Roze (1967:35) gave the species as 'Micrurus margaritiferus' (an obvious attempt to give a masculine adjectival epithet), the etymology is evidently in reference to the white spots noted in the description, so margarita (L., pearl) + fero (L., to carry). Note that the endings for gender are not -ferus/-fera/-ferum, but rather -fer/-fera/-ferum. Since this genus is masculine, the correct formation is Micrurus margaritifer
