 Comments

Comment: The status and recent use of Atriplex hastata (as a full species or an infraspecies within A. patula) was summarized by Brummitt (1998:870) as follows: 'The name Atriplex hastata was applied to a widespread north-temperate species now known as A. prostrata DC., until a type was chosen in 1974 making it synonymous with a Baltic species known as A. calotheca (Rafn) Fr. In Europe A. hastata has dropped out of use; in N. America use in the incorrect sense of A. prostrata has persisted with a few authors to the present day, while others have rejected it. The Committee unanimously recommends acceptance of the proposal to reject the name'
