  Comment: Unresolved priority issue is shown by Platnick (2012, online World Spider Catalog v12.5). Eresus niger frontalis Latreille, 1819 is treated as conspecific with Eresus kollari Rossi, 1846 (as a subspecies therein), yet is the senior name. If this placement is accepted, then according to priority the species should be known as Eresus frontalis Latreille, 1819. However, Platnick (pers. comm. 10/2011) avoids introducing nomenclatural changes regarding subspecies in the catalog unless/until those issues are addressed in the modern literature
