 Comments

Comment: Schram et al. (1986) note of Charassocarcinus mayalis (Eudes-Deslongchamps 1878) "This species was arbitrarily assigned by Glaessner (1969:R628) to the tanaidaceans. The type and only known specimen has long been lost, but from examination of descriptions and illustrations of this form in comparison to known fossil and recent tanaidaceans we feel confident in returning this problematic form - as a nomen dubium - to the ranks of the Decapoda." ITIS is therefore moving this fossil taxon into the Decapoda
