Comment: Comments: A controversial taxon, based on only two specimens, both of uncertain provenance. Groves (1998, 2001c) argued that the coalescence of a number of unique features sets it apart from Perodicticus; but Sarmiento (1998) considered that it falls within the range of Perodicticus. McKenna and Bell (1997) recognized the genus, but did not assign it to either of their two subfamilies (Lorinae, Galagoninae)
    Status: CITES - Appendix II
The False Potto is not recognized by Mittermeier (2013); 'In 2006, C. Smeenk and coworkers pointed out the considerable variation within Potto and cautioned against the description of a new genus of potto until this variation is better understood'
