    Comments: Described as a species of Malacomys and all published information referenced under that taxonomic combination. Original description was based on one specimen (Verheyen and Van der Straeten, 1977), and the species is still represented by very few examples (Dieterlen and Van der Straeten, 1984; Robbins and Van der Straeten, 1982). Chromosomal information reported by Robbins and Van der Straeten (1982). Analyses of complete mtDNA cytochrome b sequences placed P. verschureni near Myomyscus yeme...
