  Comment: Beron (2020) lists the name Cryptognathus orbiculatus orbiculatus Livshits 1974 in the synonymy of both Favognathus cucurbita and F. kamali. The former entry is minimal (no page number, and one subsequent literature use), while the latter is extensive (includes page number for the name and multiple supporting literature citations, and an additional combination, F. orbiculatus). However, orbiculatus (1974) is senior to kamali (2011). Other recent works (e.g., Khaustov & Segeyenko 2014) recognize Favognathus orbiculatus (Livshits, 1974) as valid, and Dogan & Dogan (2021) only transferred specimens misidentified as obriculatus to kamili, so it appears Favognathus orbiculatus remains in use as a valid species
