  Comment: Comments: The correct spelling of the family name is Aplodontiidae (Thomas, 1896). Traditionally classified as the sole extant representative of a unique suborder or infraorder (Protrogomorpha), the monotypic family Aplodontiidae may constitute the sister group to the sciurids (Landry, 1999; Montgelard et al., 2002).
