 Comments

Comment: Status: CITES - Appendix I; U.S. ESA - Endangered; IUCN - Near Threatened
Comments: Placed in Leopardus by J. A. Allen (1919b), Weigel (1961), and Kratochvíl (1982c); placed in Oncifelis (with guigna and geoffroyi) by Hemmer (1978). L. tigrinus shares a derived chromosomal number with pardalis and wiedii (Wurster-Hill, 1973). Includes Felis pardinoides after Cabrera (1958); however, see J. A. Allen (1919b) and Weigel (1961) who considered pardinoides as distinct, but closely related to tigrinus. Synonyms allocated according to Pocock (1941c), Cabrera (1957), and Hall (1981)
