 Comments

Comment: Although spadix is of feminine gender in classical Greek, in botanical nomenclature it has been treated as either masculine or feminine apparently. Linospadix has been used in masculine and feminine forms since it was coined in the late 1800s. Despite previously treating it as feminine (Dowe & Irvine 1997; Dowe & Ferrero 2001), Dowe more recently (Dowe 2010) treated it as masculine, matching the usage of several data sets (Tropicos 2011; World Checklist of Selected Plant Families 2011)
Although Linospadix monostachyos is sometimes given with emending authorship "H. Wendl. & Drude," this is based on the dual authorship of the work as a whole. The name is there attributed solely to "H. W.", and not to Drude at all
