Austrognathia kirsteuri Riedl 1969 is a nomen nudum (unavailable) according to the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN, 1999), since it was only listed in figures there. The epithet kirsteuri was first made available as Austrognatharia kirsteuri Sterrer 1970, although the genus Austrognatharia was not made formally available until Sterrer (1971). The species is unaffected by this incongruity (predating its original genus), since the ICZN only requires unambiguous combination with a generic name, regardless of that generic name's validity or availability (Art. 11.9.3.1)
