 Comments

Comment: 'Olsson (1869) in describing M. fragile assigned this parasite of Raja batis doubtfully to Microbothrium. [...] In 1897 Jaegerskiold described an ectoparasitic Triclad (Micropharynx parasitica, n.g. et sp.) [...] and mentioned its possible identity with Olsson's species. Stafford (1904) accepted the synonymy and reported the presence of the worm in Canadian waters. In view of these statemnets the species can be removed from the Gyrodactyloidea' (Johnston, 1922, pg 118)
