  Comment: Cleve in 1883 published Navicula (kryophila var.?) gelida. In 1884, Grunow validly published Navicula gelida. Both names are valid. Cleve in 1894 used N. gelida Grunow in his publication. Morphologically, Navicula (kryophila var.?) gelida Cleve is close to N. kryophila Cleve which is now Craspedopleura kryophila
