 Comments

Comment: 'Rock originally... named the material of this species Pittosporum halophilum... This was indeed an appropriate name, since the specimens had been collected along the beach of the Island of Molokai, 'on the windward side of the Island within the spray of the sea.' The trivial name was unaccountably altered to the meaningless spelling halophylum when published. In the interests of orthographic accuracy, it should stand corrected as halophilum.' (Sherf, 1941)
