  Comment: The name Notonecta atomaria Pallas, 1771 was sometimes regarded as a synonym of Plea minutissima Leach, 1818, but this would be based on a misidentification, as it actually corresponds to Notonecta minutissima Linnaeus, 1758, which is now recognized as Micronecta minutissima (Linnaeus, 1758).
